About Me

Once upon a time there was this little girl who dreamed of having a crafting and cooking empire.  Everyday this little girl would watch as her family created gorgeous and delicious things around her.  This little girl joined 4-H. She enjoyed much success with her cooking and crafting.  Purple ribbons adorned her scrap book for cookies, breads, crochet, ceramics, quilts, photography, and sewing.  The little girl knew she was on her way to her goal someday.

Let's fast forward about 15 years.  That little girl is now a woman, a wife, with a career in education, a photographer, a retired fire fighter, and a scientist in the kitchen.  If you haven't figured it out that little girl is ME!!!!!  I do not have a crafting and cooking empire.  I'm not a pastry chef, I don't own a dinner theater, and I'm not a producer on Broadway. (All childhood dreams.)

My husband has Celiac and has to maintain a gluten-free diet.  It's not any easy thing for a girl who loves to make things like cream puffs and homemade bread.  I was, and frankly still am, beating my head against the wall to recreate the foods I know and love.  The combination of flours to produce the correct texture can and does blow my mind some days.  It's a good thing I paid attention in science and loved doing experiments.  I was complaining about there not being a good resource for gluten free recipes with pictures.  My dear friend, Jonette, said, "Well why don't you become that resource?  Cook, show off the food with pictures, and toss in a few craft projects.  Be the gluten-free Martha Stewart."  So the blog was born.

I love music.  When I was a kid I wanted to play guitar like Willie Nelson and have hair like Crystal Gale.  I cut my hair a long time ago and gave up the guitar too.  My inner musician though is itching to come out and I've been searching for the right guitar.  My music taste is varied.  I have a playlist on Youtube that is nothing but songs that speak to a certain time in my life.  So if you'd like to know more you can listen to it here:

I've always thought that life should be like a movie or a musical.  There should be music playing in the background that describes that moment in time.

Adam Levine is my current obsession the poor guy.  I have the suspicion that he has Celiac and doesn't know.  If you are reading this and know him please encourage him to get tested.  As always if you, Adam, or John Doe have questions about Celiac or anything else email me at craftingtodo at gmail dot com

Keep checking in as this is a living document and can and will change. :)
